PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION STATEMENT

Your privacy matters to us. At Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance Co Ltd. Hong Kong Branch (hereinafter referred as “APIHK”), we always put our customers at the heart of our business. As a trusted insurance provider, we treat the protection of personal information of our customers with utmost respect. APIHK is committed to fully implementing the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance in relation to the collection, handling, use and disclosure of personal data.

  1. From time to time, it is necessary for you to supply APIHK with data about yourself(ves), policyholder(s), beneficiary(ies), claimant(s), and/ or other relevant individuals (the “Personal Data”) in connection with the provision of insurance and/ or related products and services to you, the processing of claims under insurance policies issued and/ or arranged by APIHK, and/ or the processing of any or all other requests, enquiries and complaints from you.
  2. Provision of the Personal Data to APIHK by you is voluntary. However, failure to supply the Personal Data may result in APIHK being unable to provide insurance and/ or related products and services to you, process claims under insurance policies issued and/ or arranged by APIHK, and/ or process any or all other requests, enquiries, or complaints from you.
  3. The purposes for which the Personal Data may be used are as follows:
    1. processing your insurance application, arranging and executing insurance contract, and managing your account with APIHK
    2. customer services and other related activities;
    3. conducting data matching procedures;
    4. designing insurance and/ or related products and services for customers’ use;
    5. marketing insurance and/ or other related products and services of APIHK and/ or its group companies (hereinafter referred to as the “Group”);
    6. direct marketing of insurance and/ or other related products and services subject to your prior prescribed consent (if any), and you can exercise the right of opt-out by notifying APIHK at any time;
    7. statistical or actuarial research of APIHK, its Group, insurance industry associations or federations, governments and/ or regulatory entities;
    8. complying with the requirements under any laws, rules, regulations, codes, guidelines, court orders, compliance policies and procedures, and any other relevant requirements which APIHK and/ or its Group are expected to comply with, including, without limitation, performing due diligence on customers and making disclosures of the relevant information; and
    9. fulfilling any other purposes directly relating to (i) to (viii) above.
  4. The Personal Data held by APIHK shall be kept confidential, but APIHK may provide the Personal Data to the following parties (whether within or outside the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) for the purposes set out in paragraph (c) above, without prior notification to you and/ or any other relevant individuals to whom the Personal Data is related:
    1. intermediaries, claims service providers, coinsurers, reinsurers, banks and credit-card companies, health and medical organizations, business partners, and/ or any other relevant parties, as appropriate, who provide administrative, telecommunication, computer, payment, marketing, investigation, advisory and/ or other services to APIHK in connection with the operation of its business;
    2. relevant insurance industry associations or federations, and/ or members of such industry associations or federations;
    3. overseas locations, as appropriate, of APIHK and/ or its Group;
    4. persons to whom APIHK and/ or its Group are under an obligation to make disclosure under the requirements as mentioned in (c) (viii);
    5. any court, government or regulatory entity (including, without limitation, tax authority, insurance authority, etc.) under any laws binding on APIHK and/ or its Group;
    6. lawful successors or assigns of APIHK; and
    7. persons who owe a duty of confidentiality to APIHK and/ or its Group.
  5. APIHK may verify any or all of the Personal Data by using information collected and released or transferred by relevant insurance industry associations or federations, and/ or members of such industry associations or federations.
  6. In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance:
    1. any individual has the right to:
      1. check whether APIHK holds data about him/ her and, if so, obtain a copy of such data;;
      2. require APIHK to correct any data relating to him/ her that is inaccurate; and;
      3. ascertain APIHK’s policies and practices in relation to data and to be informed of the kind of data held by APIHK; and
    2. APIHK has the right to charge a reasonable fee for the processing of any data access request.
  7. The person to whom requests for access to data and/ or correction of data and/ or for information regarding policies and practices and kinds of data held are to be addressed to APIHK.

APIHK nonetheless reserves the right to take legal proceedings in jurisdictions other than Hong Kong, to protect its interests or to enforce its rights whenever it deems it appropriate to do so.

Privacy, Security & Cookies

    Privacy information

    1. In its capacity as Data User, Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance Co Ltd. Hong Kong Branch (hereinafter referred as “APIHK”) is entitled to process the personal data of its stakeholders (customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers, trustees, internet users etc.) in the ordinary management of existing relations and to acquire consent if necessary. Data processing for commercial purposes is carried out only if specifically authorised by Data Subjects.
    2. Personal data are not subject to dissemination unless specifically provided for by the law.
    3. All Data Subjects can exercise their rights of access and know what personal data are held by us, their origins and how they are used. They shall also be entitled to call for the data to be updated, rectified, supplemented or deleted, ask for them to be blocked or object to their processing, and require further information on the processing of personal data by contacting the APIHK.

    Policies and security

    1. Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance Co Ltd. Hong Kong Branch (hereinafter referred as “APIHK”) acting as Data User(s) attach utmost importance to confidentiality, protection and safety of information, particularly personal data concerning their customers and people who get in touch with APIHK.
    2. This section outlines the methods used to administer this site with regard to the processing of users' personal data. Pursuant to Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486, laws of Hong Kong) and its subsidiary legislations/rules, this information is also provided to subjects interacting with the services provided over the internet by APIHK (Data User).
    3. Information is provided for and applies to APIHK web sites only. It is not applicable to any other web site linked to the APIHK Site.
    4. Surfers are required to provide personal data only if they want to get in contact with us or ask for advice.     APIHK privacy policy

    1. Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance Co Ltd. Hong Kong Branch (hereinafter referred as “APIHK”) process personal data concerning third parties, insured people, claimants, existing and potential customers, beneficiaries, etc.. APIHK has always taken all necessary steps to guarantee data confidentiality and security, in line with new regulatory and technological developments, particularly in the field of computer technology.

      2. Pursuant to the existing personal data protection legislation, APIHK has adopted their own privacy policy which is based on the following points:

      1. The Data User is APIHK, which has appointed a staff as the Personal Data Protection Officer as the person in charge of the implementation of privacy legislation in Hong Kong;
      2. Data subjects may apply to the Human Resources & Administration Department of APIHK to exercise their rights of access and obtain any further information on privacy;
    2. APIHK can only access personal information as is strictly necessary to perform specific services or for the purposes for which such information has been collected by providing the specific information (i.e. on contracts for insurance business).

    Cookies policy
